About our Report
Tarmac, a CRH company, is the UK’s leading sustainable building products, construction services and solutions business. Our innovative products, services and solutions help to deliver the infrastructure needed to grow the economy today and create a more sustainable built environment to support the future prosperity of the UK economy.
This report is the first since our new Sustainability Strategy, ACT. The strategy sets out the third phase of our sustainability journey, covering the next ten years and beyond. This report looks at improving sustainability for our business, our customers and communities by continually improving environmental, social and economic performance throughout the whole life cycle of our products, services and solutions.
Changes to our business in 2021
Throughout 2021 we continued to face challenges due to COVID-19, however we still maintained our focus on sustainability and business growth. For example, we signed a 25-year agreement with Forth Ports to create the UK’s largest construction materials terminal at Tilbury2. The facility is a purpose-built aggregate processing and manufacturing facility, strategically located to serve London and the South East, with multimodal connectivity. We also continued to invest in our people with the opening of a new Occupational Health Facility at our National Skills and Safety Park in Nottinghamshire.
Our report has been prepared in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative’s Sustainability Reporting Standards (GRI Standards). View the GRI Index.
It focuses on the issues that we consider to be material to our business as identified in our sustainability strategy.
